Coordination efforts continue in Midwest, Wyoming

Midwest, WY November 28, 2017: The Natrona County School District #1 with assistance from FDL Operating, LLC, Geosyntec, and the Casper-Natrona County Health Department continue to monitor air quality in Midwest School in Midwest, WY. Results from air samples taken on October 7, 2017 show air quality in the school continues to be acceptable for students and staff. Carbon Dioxide alarms have been installed throughout the school to alert staff of any high readings in order to activate plans to move students out of the potential area of concern.

In May 2017, Vapor Mitigation Sciences, LLC completed installation of a vapor mitigation system in Midwest School. Geosyntec has completed air quality tests inside and outside the school in May, June, July and October 2017.

“We are encouraged by the continued low-level readings of all vapors that have been submitted to our department.” said Dr. Kelly Weidenbach, Executive Director of the Casper-Natrona County Health Department.

Air quality monitoring will continue on a quarterly basis through April 2018. If there aren’t any concerns with the air quality, then the Casper-Natrona County Health Department, Geosyntec and the Natrona County School District #1 will meet to discuss further monitoring efforts.

The Natrona County School District #1 and Geosyntec, in cooperation with the Casper-Natrona County Health Department, will continue to monitor Midwest School and address any concerns that may arise in the coming year.
