Clinical Services

The disease prevention clinic at the Casper-Natrona County Health Department oversees the surveillance, prevention, and treatment of communicable diseases in Natrona County, including HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and viral hepatitis. Other clinical services include Immigration assessments, travel evaluations, serum titers, and COVID testing and vaccinations.

Tuberculosis Testing & Control

The Casper Natrona County Health Department offers two types of tuberculosis (TB) screening tests:

PPD Skin Tests: The PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) skin test is a commonly used method for tuberculosis screening. It involves injecting a small amount of the TB protein under the skin and returning within 48 to 72 hours to check for a reaction. This test is available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday by appointment or walk-in.

TSpot Testing: The TSpot test is a blood test that screens for tuberculosis infection by detecting the immune response to TB bacteria in the blood. It is a more precise option, especially for individuals who have received the BCG vaccine. TSpot testing is available Monday through Thursday by appointment only.

Both tests are used to detect potential TB infections and help prevent the spread of tuberculosis in the community. Please contact us to schedule your test or stop by during the designated days for PPD skin testing.

All patients getting PPD skin tests for tuberculosis screening must be able to return to CNCHD between 48 to 72 hours after the skin test was placed to get the results.

A parent or legal guardian must accompany children under 18.
