Registered Nurse

The Casper-Natrona County Health Department is looking for a REGISTERED NURSE. This position works
with the Disease Prevention Clinic 100% of the time. This position will perform assessments, diagnosis,
treatment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for individuals, families, and groups, or to the
population as a whole, providing services to all age groups within the programs of Immunization, Family
Planning, Sexual Health, Tuberculosis, General Disease Prevention and Education, counseling clients
regarding health issues and health promotion.
This position also participates in epidemiological (vaccine-preventable) investigations and public health
emergency response activities.
Working at the Casper Natrona County Health Department offers a typical work week- Monday – Friday,
8 am-5 pm, with minimal evenings and weekends. It is a dynamic working environment- with lots of
opportunities for training in adult learning principles, quality improvement, education, and related
support in various systems identified in the work plan to help succeed in this position. There is
autonomy in this position, looking for creative skills to emphasize health and well-being while giving
back to the community.
The salary range is $60,819 to $75,062. Benefits include enrollment in the Wyoming Retirement System,
fair compensation, Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance including vision and dental, 13 major paid holidays,
paid vacation and sick leave based on monthly accrual of 8 hours per month of each, and supplemental
insurances are available. This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Qualifications: A valid driver’s license and a current RN license. Upon hire, the candidate must complete
a medical evaluation, immunization review, and drug and background screening.

SUMMARY:
A nurse in the disease prevention clinic performs assessments, diagnosis, treatment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to individuals, families, and groups, or the populations as a whole, providing services in Immunization programs, Family Planning Programs, Sexually Transmitted Disease Programs, Tuberculosis Management Services to all age groups.  Settings include clinics, classrooms, and groups, and counsel clients regarding health issues and problems.  This position participates in epidemiological (vaccine-preventable) investigations and becomes competent in public health emergency preparedness activities.  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include but not limited to):
Immunization Program:Works with the general public to determine immunization needs.Administers needed immunizations.Provide immunization education to clients and the general public.Family Planning Program:Educate the general public on family planning options.Educate the general public on various contraceptive methods.Works closely with medical providers for management and follow-up with clients.Conducts presentations and classes in a variety of settings in the county.Sexually Transmitted Disease Programs:Completes screening examinations for clients.Completes medical follow-ups with clients.Obtains partner contact information.Completes follow-up with partner contact information.Conducts presentations and classes in a variety of settings in the county.Tuberculosis Management Services:Provide Tuberculin screening tests for the general public.Case management for latent tuberculosis infections.Works closely with medical providers for active tuberculosis cases.Communicates with the Wyoming Department of Health on communicable disease cases.Epidemiological Investigations (vaccine-preventable diseases)Report vaccine-preventable disease incidents to the Wyoming Department of Health.Interview clients to determine the degree of exposure to the public.Contact individuals potentially exposed to the disease.Gather data to report findings to the Wyoming Department of Health.  
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist in maintaining office and clinical inventory of supplies and needed client materials.Maintain calendar for workload, appointment timeliness, and time tracking of different programs.Maintain workspace, cars, equipment, and materials in a professional manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The working space is within the Disease Prevention Clinic in the Casper-Natrona County Health Department, and it works with approximately six employees in the immediate department and 45 employees in the whole department.  There are typical office and clinical furnishings and equipment, intermittent busy and loud indoor environments, and communication via phone, electronically, and in person.  Interaction with the public, regular interaction with the whole population.  This position requires participation in Emergency Preparedness Training and Public Health emergencies.  
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS (ADA ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS):
Vision adequate for daily work, corrected vision of 20/40- on the Snellen scale.Hearing adequate for daily work corrected hearing of 30 decibels on the 1000, 2000 frequency scale.The ability to lift twenty pounds from floor to waist level.Reasonable accommodations will be addressed, based on the position description.  
POTENTIAL HAZARDS INCLUDE:
Potential exposures to communicable disease from direct/or indirect personal contact.Use of vehicles/or equipment.Variety of environmental conditions both inside and outside at work sites.Injury due to awkward positions and prolonged computer work.  Exposure to chemical agents, to include reagents, sanitizers and other chemicals that may be associated with routine and incidental assignments.
