Notice Of Intent To Adopt Casper-Natrona County Food Safety Rule

Pursuant to the Wyoming Administrative Procedures Act, W.S.16-3-103 et seq., and W.S. 35-1-303 et seq., 35-7-120, 35-7-123(a)(iii), and 35-7-123(c)(ii), the Board of Health of the Casper/Natrona County Health Department will hold a public hearing on the 21st day of September 2023 to consider adoption and promulgation of a Casper/Natrona County Food Safety Rule. A copy of the proposed Casper/Natrona County Food Safety Rule is available at the office of the Casper/Natrona County Health Department, 475 S. Spruce St., Casper, WY 82601, and at the website: www.casperpublichealth.org.

The Board is considering adopting a local food safety rule that will add to and supplement the Wyoming Food Safety Rule already in place in the State of Wyoming. The Casper/Natrona County Food Safety Rule will incorporate the requirements of the Wyoming Food Safety Rule and add requirements for a certified food protection manager, food protection manager certification, cleanup of vomit and diarrheal events, cleaning of plumbing fixtures, and cleaning agents and sanitizers availability. It will also clarify these additional requirements by creating new definitions for a “Core Item,” a “Priority Item,” and a “Priority Foundation Item.”

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. at the Casper/Natrona County Health Department, Casper, WY 82601, the Board will open the public hearing to hear public comment and consider the adoption of the Casper/Natrona County Food Safety Rule. Additionally, prior to the public hearing, any interested person may submit his/her written views on the proposed rule to the office of the Board of Health, 475 S. Spruce St., Casper, WY 82601 or to akinder@cnchd.org.

The Casper/Natrona County Food Safety Rule will meet the minimum and exceed the statutory requirements of the Wyoming Food Safety Rule. The requirements will be exceeded because a certified food protection manager will be a requirement rather than voluntary. This requirement will provide the public with greater protection from foodborne illnesses.
